The Patroness of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada is Our Lady of Good Counsel. Her feast day is celebrated on April 26.
-
It is interesting to note, from church records, that the title Mother of Good Counsel had been inserted into the Litany of the Blessed Virgin in the early 1900's by the pope of the day. The history and recognition of the picture of Our Lady of Good Counsel is explained in the historical section of the CWL's National Manual of Policy and Procedure (Pages 15-16).
-
The LEAGUE PRAYER and other Favorites. Members are invited to view (and add to) this collection of devotions submitted by various members.
-
Through the wonderful efforts of our Spiritual Committee Chair, we endeavor to follow recommendation from National that every meeting should consist of 1/3 business, 1/3 social, & 1/3 spiritual. Contact: spiritual.chair.cwl.stpeters@gmail.com for more information.
-
Twilight Retreat's are held every September at the Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre in Cochrane (http://www.mountstfrancis.ca/) and are open to all women in the parish.

Prayer Angels: As League members we are encouraged to pray for each other. At the beginning of the year, the names of all the members will be placed in a box. By the end of they year, everyone will have had a month of prayers from her “prayer angel” sister.

ST. PETER’S PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
St. Peter's CWL Prayer Shawl Group consists of ladies from our counsel as well as the Prayer Shawl group from the Lutheran Advent Church (in Scenic Acres) who enjoy knitting and crocheting.
Our group meets the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings from September to June, with the exception of statutory holidays. We meet from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Advent Lutheran Church and new members are always welcome. We also have members and parishoner's who do not attend meetings but knit/crochet or make special fleece shawls at home.
The prayer shawls are blessed and provided to both men and women free of charge with the hope that they will bring comfort to them. The most common reasons shawls are provided are for illness, loss and loneliness. In 2017, 116 persons were provided with a shawl and so far in 2018, 26 shawls have been provided. Since the beginning of this ministry, 386 shawls have been provided.
Each spring we make a request for donations of unwanted, machine washable and dryable wool or yarn. Our parishoner's have been very generous through the years. This year our request will take place on the weekends of April 14 and April 21, with a box being placed in the narthex for the donations.
If you wish a shawl for yourself or someone else, please contact the CWL Communication Chair at cwl.stpeters@gmail.com
