Jacob's Ladder

In Genesis 28:12-13 we first learn of Jacob's Ladder. Jacob went into a deep sleep and began to dream. His dream was profound. "He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, 'I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants'". In Friday's gospel reading (John 1.45-51), Jesus said to Nathanael, "Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of god ascending and descending upon the Son of Man." (also Jacob's Ladder). This reminded me of the toy children play with. The second picture isn't as clear but is the Christian image of the angels ascending and descending to heaven.
