dyngus day

You learn something new every day - and here I thought is was just Easter Monday, the day after Easter Sunday; but actually this day originates back to to 966 AD with the baptism by St. Dyngus of the entire royal court of the Polish prince Mieszko. So you're asleep on Easter Monday when all of a sudden your bedroom door opens and you are doused with water! Sort of like a reenactment of baptism, but now you get to throw water on all your family and friends. Very popular in Buffalo, New York (Dyngus capital of America) and thousands of Canadians usually journey there for this celebration (but not this year unfortunately). Nothing like a good old water fight. Happy Easter everyone.
