All Souls Day

All Souls Day is a holy day set aside for honoring the dead. Catholics believe that the soul can go to three places: heaven (where the person is in a state of grace at the time of death); hell (where the person is in a state of mortal sin); or purgatory (where a person is in a state of venial sin). Catholics pray for the people in Purgatory to cleanse the souls before they enter into heaven.
